STYLED SHOOT // Kelly Spence Bright Young Things Shoot

If you follow my blog/twitter/FB you’ll know that Kelly Spence is one of my all time favourite creative ladies in the wedding industry.  Not only is she a really, really nice lady, but she’s also incredibly talented; designing and handcrafting the most beautiful individual headpieces for super-lucky brides.  I first became aware of her work when I photographed her pieces on the Neon Love shoot for Want That Wedding, and later, when I wanted to zhush (is that how you spell it?) Martina & Leslie’s Paris Engagement Shoot, she was the lady I called to add that little special something.

A couple of months back, I photographed her new 2012 collection in the velvety elegance that is Hanbury Manor.  Rather than me try and tell you how gorgeous every piece is, why not have a look at some photos instead? :)

I think this next piece has got to be my favourite from the whole new season’s collection, the absolutely stunning Fifi Veil.  Made out of a diaphanous crisp silk tulle, it’s definitely a great example of something traditional given a gorgeously chic modern twist.  I can imagine so many brides seriously rocking this out – and of course it can be  drawn back into a ‘pouf’ at the back or side of the head when not worn over the face.  Apparently it’s quite a popular choice – I can totally see why!

FRIDAY FAVES // This Week’s Good Stuff 01.06.12

Much of this week was spent up north in Yorkshire.  It was gloriously hot, and – being particularly suspicious of the weather up there – I’d packed lots of woollies and thick socks.  Ooops.  The things that have entertained me or made me smile in the past seven days….

// ONE FOR THE GLAM //
The Christian Louboutin Exhibition at the Design Museum.  A sultry, seductive, spectacular retrospective of Louboutin’s work (and who knew he nearly gave it all up to be a gardener?!).  I’m not a fan of everything Louboutin does, but the collection is curated dazzlingly by the Design Museum.  I am also more than a little bit in love with his Mexibead shoe….too much?

// ONE FOR THE DREAMERS //
This blog, entitled CABIN P*RN. I want a cabin.  Snug under the trees. By a lake. So bad.

// ONE FOR THE BRIDES //
This DIY tutorial on Green Wedding Shoes on how to zhush up your wedding shoes with NEON TOES. I love this. If you’re a bride with seriously ace shoes, let’s talk, yes?

// ONE FOR THE BOOKLOVERS //
Footsteps by Katharine McMahon.  Devoured in one sitting. Not overly taxing but a jolly good read.

// ONE FOR THE ALBUM //
I photographed a family wedding this week.  It was beautiful.  Congratulations Natalie & Dave!

As a wedding photographer / business owner / freelancer /creative type there is rarely a dull day at work.  Having said that, there aren’t often mindblowingly exciting moments such as today – being featured on the BIGGEST wedding blog in the world – STYLE ME PRETTY!!

I’m genuinely thrilled to bits to have Martina & Leslie’s Paris Engagement photos up on such an inspiring blog.  Thank you, ladies across the pond, for having me!

New Website!

A little post to let you know that I’ve recently launched my brand spanking new website, designed by the genius that is Melissa Love.

It’s about a squillion times better than my old one, and has a lot more photos (in three separate galleries no less) and information about the wedding photography service I offer, as well as information about me so you have more of an idea who’ll be turning up to your wedding!

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Julie - What a pretty website Kat! Well done you! I love pretty much everything about it. Will definitely mention your name to anyone looking for a wedding photographer in London. Ps: I q wish you could one day come to do a shoot for of our sweet little family….March 22, 2012 – 9:44 pm

Kat Hill - Thank you so much Julie! We should definitely catch up sometime and I’d love to take photos for you!!! (sorry for slow reply, for some reason this was hiding in my Spam!) xMarch 28, 2012 – 2:41 pm

FIRST LOOK // Serife & Ru’s Turkish & Bengali Wedding

Last Saturday I had a blast photographing my first ever Turkish/Bengali wedding.  Serife  & Ru are one of the loveliest couples I’ve ever met and gave me so much time to do their couples photos, I was like a kid in a candy shop!  Especially as one of the venues was the St Pancras hotel with, yes, THAT staircase….

Hannah Webster - Oooh you lucky thing. Can’t wait to see more! xMarch 13, 2012 – 9:17 pm

PERSONAL // Random Portrait…

In my spare time I’ve been collaborating with a friend and singer/songwriter on a project of hers.  Rest assured I have no involvement on the musical side (this is a very good thing, I’m completely tone deaf) but when she asked me to take a few photos for the project how could I say no?

So, just one frame from one of our adventures last week.  No description or explanation but I love it as a simple portrait anyway. Oh to be so young and so full of conviction!
